Are you Pregnant or Just Gaining Weight?

Well I thought about putting a poll on the side of the blog saying How should you tell everyone you are pregnant? A - Tell people on your blog B- Call everyone, but then I thought I don't really want to call everyone so here you go. Yes, we are expecting Baby #4. I think it is a girl, I will say right now. But I am not very good at that kind of intuition, so we'll see. Adam thought we should just not say anything but I couldn't stand to have people think that I was just gaining weight so I had to tell. We are excited, I have felt kindof sick, but I don't really throw up and it goes away after a few weeks so I can't complain. In fact I have felt a little better these last few days. Like Shari - I have felt that I have been neglecting my blog, but I have a good excuse. Hopefully I will get back on the ball soon.

FRUSTRATION!!

I am seeking advice. For any of you who have stubborn children who don't listen to you, how do you get them to listen to you? For example, this morning I took Luke to the bus stop and he REFUSED to get on the bus. The bus came, I threatened, he didn't care, and the bus left, without him. So I ended up driving him (which is what he wanted) to school and fuming the whole way. How should I handle this situation? We seem to have clashing personalities - both stubborn. I just don't know how to deal with him sometimes.

Hats

We are coming up with creative things to do in the mornings. Cereal boxes make great hats for little kids.

Mother of the Year

Okay so I'll admit it - I forgot to take a picture of Luke before he went to 1st grade yesterday. So I had to settle for the after-school-in-the-car shot, which perfectly captures Luke's mood after school. Sorry about the bread - I was lucky to get the shot! Also I didn't know that it was early out on Mondays so I got a call from Luke at the school to come and get him. I guess it was a memorable day.

The REAL Mother's Day

I was totally laughing at a friend's blog when she said the REAL Mother's Day is the first day of school. I am definitely excited to get back on a schedule, but I think I am going to miss Luke. He will be gone ALL day, he won't get home until 4:00! And Grace is off to pre-school this year, she is SO excited. I think she will love it, and she will only be gone two days a week for a couple of hours each time. Even kindergarten for Luke I was not that sad, I figured he would be home at lunch and then we had the rest of the day together. But I am already missing him even though school doesn't even start until tomorrow. I hope he survives first grade okay. We went to back to school night and his teacher is young and new. At least she (hopefully) has lots of energy and she doesn't have any of her own kids yet so I hope she can devote lots of time to the class. Luke's teacher last year in kindergarten was awsome so I have high expectations. I am volunteering at the school again this year and hope to get to volunteer in the classroom due to a new babysitting co-op we are doing in our neighborhood. Which is a whole other post. Anyway, wish us all luck and a good school year!
P.S. There is a new link to the blog for Grace's preschool on the side for those of you who would like to see what she is up to at school. She starts on Sept. 3rd.

Handsome Luke

Luke wanted me to take this picture of him at Thanksgiving Point. He has a good eye for what will look good, he said, I want to stand here, etc. What a handsome fellow!

Our Fun Filled Weekend - All in One Post

Well we started off our fun filled weekend by welcoming Grandma Pam. The kids cannot get enough of Grandma, and she can't get enough of them.

A rare glimpse of Luke - he doesn't like having his picture taken usually.
This is what usually happens when I try to take a picture.
Saturday I got to have a girl's night out with Mom, Aunt Sharon (it was her birthday celbration), Grandma Wanda, Aunt Peggy, Dani, Lyndsay, Kimmy and Brenda. We went to see Mamma Mia! and it was a blast. How can you not have fun when it's just the girls? Definitely a chick flick, and I highly recommend it.
We had fun taking shots of the kids jumping on the Siesta Sack, we were laughing pretty hard at some of the pictures we got.

Luke and the toad we found in our window well (a common occurance).
Sunday Grandpa Mark, Great Grandma Bette and Uncle Joe came to visit. It was SO good to see them, we always have a lot of fun and manage to relax at the same time.
Dad and I are usually the ones behind the camera so it's fun to get some shots of us together.
Liam crashed and burned on his trike in the road.
Tuesday after everyone had gone I took the kids to Thanksgiving Point. Right now on Tuesdays in August you can go for only $2 each, which is a STEAL since it's usually $10 for adults and $8 for kids. So we went, along with a million other people (it was the last Tuesday before school starts). The kids had fun though, as always.
Liam and someone sticking their fingers in the dino's nose. Sometimes the funniest things on film are not the ones you meant to capture.

So we had a fun filled weekend and now we are preparing for a new school year. Good luck everybody!

Done!

Well I finished Breaking Dawn. Once I pick up a good book, I can't put it down. I waited all day Tuesday for the UPS lady to come and she FINALLY showed up at 6:15! I thought I was going to die. I got done pretty fast, especially since I stayed up till 2 that night to keep reading. I finally had to go to sleep, maybe in my younger days I could have kept going. I got done the next afternoon. I thought it was really good, I am glad all the loose ends are tied up. I guess now I will have to settle for reading the series over and over since she is all done, although you know I am going to buy the Twilight from Edward's point of view when it comes out eventually.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Grace Before Grace In Between
If you look close you can see she cut it almost to the scalp by her ear. Adam and I thought it was very Carol Brady-ish. We thought about leaving the long wisps in the back, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to do it. We did have a good laugh about the thought of it though.
The Evidence
That is the neighbor girl's long dark hair on the ground with Grace's. Well, it was long.

I feel like singing...."The Hills are alive, with the sound of music, la la la la." Don't you think she looks like Julie Andrews from the sound of music? I guess the punishment of having short hair fits the crime. Grace and her friend did each other's hair this afternoon, much to my shock. Now they both have bobs - well, Amber does. Grace's is more a short cut, I don't know what you call it. Grace says she likes her new hair, although you can't tell from this last picture. I just can't believe it. She cut it pretty short on the one side, hence the Julie Andrews look. Oh well, it's only hair, right?

At the Creek

Adam took some really great pictures at the creek while we were camping. It is becoming a tradition for us. We had a lot of fun. Here are just a handful of the pictures.

Freaky Friday

Well I would have thought it was Friday the 13th last Friday, but no, it was August 1st. Because crazy things were happening that day. We finally took Luke to the doctor because on Tuesday he fell off his skateboard and was still limping around on Friday. So we took him in and low and behold he has a broken foot. Mother of the Year award, I know. So now he has this beautiful boot that he has to wear for 4 weeks, including while he is sleeping which he is not happy about. The good news...at least it's not a cast AND now we only have to find one shoe when it's time to go.
Then, actually before this, Adam was biking and he got down the mountain to call me and his new work phone was sitting in two inches of water from a leak in his camel pack. The good news...if you take your phone apart and let it dry and then put it back together, it will usually work again. I know because my phone has been thrown in the tub. Guess who? So I think his phone is working again, but it was stressful thinking that it wouldn't, because we would have had to pay for it.
And last, but not least, we were completely packed, I mean ready to go, the kids were in the car and everything, ready to go camping, and the car would not start. We tried jumping it but there wasn't enough juice to get it going, it was insane. We tried for about 2 hours, different things, and the whole time I'm imagining our cooler in the back of our black car, roasting in the sun. Anway, we got Dianna and Eric to get us a new battery and they were on their way up when Adam decides to try it one more time and it just starts up fine. What the heck?! Frustrating. So we went camping and put the new battery in. Then on the way home from camping it died like 4 times. Couldn't get it to work, etc. etc., then wall ah (is that how you spell it), it was fine again. So the bad news is something is wrong with our car but it does actually work right now. And for all you worry warts we ARE going to get it looked at today. Here are some pictures from camping up American Fork Canyon.

Luke and the boot

Saturday we went fishing, which was all about the kids. They played in the water and with the poles. It wasn't Adam's idea of fishing (he likes to fly fish) but he endured for the kids. The weather was pretty nice actually, not too sunny and breezy, and the kids had fun.

Scaring the fish away. Oh well.
